The entire Glenn Sestig Architects team wishes you a peaceful summer break. | | | | Clean lines, refined details, noble materials, geometrical symmetries – it’s classicism revisited at Ormond Editions. This month, Ideat Magazine looks at how the Swiss design brand celebrates the decorative arts through a series of pieces that are centred on clarity, precision and restraint. The company’s new collection draws inspiration from the language of classical architecture to create an aesthetic that stands the test of time. With this in mind, Glenn Sestig was commissioned to design two pieces for the collection. The Kennedy sconce light and the Genesis vase are now available by Ormond Editions. ideat | | | | | | "Instead of continuing to stay in a hotel, a Belgian couple bought a 30 square meter apartment in the heart of the first arrondissement of Paris and had it converted into a suite - luxury. The only thing missing is room service..." There’s little that gives us more pleasure than seeing our projects celebrated through publication; a joy surpassed perhaps only by designing them. ad france | | | | | | Self-confessed quality maniac Nick Vinson writes a monthly column in Wallpaper* magazine, and in the latest instalment, after touching upon the immaculate hanger displays at Rei Kawakubo’s stores and the tidiness in guest accessories’ storage arrangements on Mr. Giorgio Armani's yacht, ‘The Vinson View’ turns its attention to the visual harmony found in Glenn Sestig’s daily life – everything, from workspace items to homeware, and even down to the contents of his fridge, is aligned to perfection. Composition is important. Books must be straight, and labels must face forward. wallpaper* magazine | | | | | In the latest issue of Obumex magazine, the Belgian interiors specialist’s in-house publication puts the spotlight on the bespoke kitchen Glenn Sestig designed for the brand. Since its inception, the popular product has been featured in several projects, built in an array of different materials and always made to measure for each individual client. Conceived as a balanced composition of vertical and horizontal volumes, this kitchen combines smart aesthetics with high functionality. A vertical element contains a wine cooler and storage for bar accessories, but also cleverly conceals the all-black sink and faucet. The design is a departure from the traditional concept for food preparation; this is a piece of architectural sculpture. obumex | | | | | | Combining traditional craftsmanship with the latest LED technology, Ozone has become the design world's go-to lighting brand. Carefully reflecting the company’s identity, Glenn Sestig has designed a collection that blends architectural clarity with geometric decor. The new designs range from hanging ceiling fixtures of varied sizes, to sconce lights. ozone | | | | | | Italian manufacturer Giobagnara commissioned Glenn Sestig to design a new range of furniture that brings together the immaculate craftsmanship of the makers of the Ligurian Coast and the supreme design quality of the Flemish creative tradition. The products are born out of orchestrated sequences of volumes, with voids and solid elements seemingly carved out of a single block. A gentle rim highlights the attention to detail and sense of lightness in every piece. Created in natural materials, this collection is an ode to serenity, craft and refinement. giobagnara | | | | | | The Genesis vase was conceived as a generous, brutalist object, composed of two distinct parts; a delicate patinated bronze vessel that contains the water and flowers, and a solid, semi-transparent block of glass created in lost-wax casting that hugs it, anchoring it to the ground. The limited edition object is crafted by Garnier & Linker. The Kennedy sconce light is an interpretation of the Lloyd seating collection for Giobagnara. Originally tailor-made for a client and his project, the piece is also produced by Garnier & Linker. ormond editions | | | | | | When a Michelin-starred chef decided to reimagine his business in Knokke-Heist from a formal experience to a more intimate, casual eatery, he called upon Glenn Sestig to redesign the restaurant interior. Now, Bartholomeus has a bar at its heart. The kitchen and dining areas are visually connected, so that customers can peek through to the action and excitement in the food preparation area. To enhance the dining experience and create a more intimate atmosphere, the restaurant now offers a maximum of only 18 seats. The bar features bespoke stools produced by Giobagnara – a twist to the company’s Lloyd armchair that adds longer legs and a leather base to the original product.
Now fully refreshed, the new restaurant, Bartholomeus, and its team are ready to welcome you. | | | | | | De Puydt fireplaces have made a mark in the design world for their ability to elevate an interior through their style and architectural composition. A long-term client and partner, the company commissioned Glenn Sestig to create its new showroom in Knokke, and now the space is open for business. de puydt | | | | Agl, one of Milan’s finest shoes and bags brand and a third generation, proudly family-owned company, is expanding. To reflect its global acclaim and distribution, the business commissioned Glenn Sestig to lead the complete redesign of its famous Via della Spiga showroom. In the refreshed space, functionality meets refined aesthetics, and an open-plan interior invites retailers to examine the collections and select their buys. agl | | | | | There are plenty of reasons to get excited about our newest project in Belgium, including its rich architectural heritage and striking location. Working with the natural landscape and the site’s history, Glenn Sestig is in the process of designing a private residence set to become one of the studio’s finest yet. | | | | | Working with a client who appreciates great architecture is a true privilege and the Pringiers family takes this concept to a whole new level, always working with some of the world’s finest contemporary architects. Our latest project for them involves a striking, sculptural concrete holiday home, where the whole family can retreat to, meet and relax when their international travels bring them back to their home country of Belgium. | | | | | |
